PGMEA Establishment

Undoubtedly, the Gloves Industry did exists and was producing and exporting gloves – but the Gloves Industry was functioning in a scattered and individual character. There was no specific platform of “Gloves Industry Sector” from where the concerned businessmen could privilege themselves to solve their problems or to update their relevant informations. Eventually, an enthusiastic group of Gloves Industrialists took serious note and planned to form a BODY which could safeguard the interests of Gloves Industry and to work as an effective Representative Institution. The main objective remained for formation of such Institution was to boost up the exports and ultimate benefit to earn foreign exchange.

Hence, with this prime aim, Pakistan Gloves Manufacturers and Exporters Association – Sialkot came into being in December 1978 on ALL Pakistan Basis as a licensed Trade Body recognized by Government of Pakistan and later affiliated with Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI). As a matter of fact, when the PGMEA was established in 1978, the export figure was a few millions which reached to the value approximately US$ 300 Millions covering “gloves of all sorts”.
